Today we ran out of cooked meat so I took some raw meat from the freezer last night.unthawed it and gave Lacey 2 pieces of raw beef or to eat her Dog Food Mix:1/4 cup Nature’s Variety Instinct Beef & Lamb,1/4 cup Dogswell Happy Hips Duck& Sweet Potato Stew with some cooked Beef that Pa decided to heat up for Lacey Girl.Lacey did in fact eat some of the can food today but would rather prefer to eat 2 pieces of raw beef in between bites!She gobbled up the 2 pieces of raw beef like nothing but wouldn’t do that for raw Chicken! Still,after she ate she made poop so fast I didn’t even realize it till I checked her Puppy pad.Sure enough,there’s one good piece of poop waiting to be picked up!I’ve never seen her poop so fast in a matter of minutes!I try to give her raw meat every so often.So far,it’s not a daily thing but for now every now & then.

Earthborn Holistic Great Plain & Coastal Catch Dog Food is finally at Kalihi Pets!
So,we just stopped by Kalihi Pets & finally found the two newest grain free formulas of earthborn holistic there.We haven’t tried it yet but probably will in the upcoming weeks so check back to see how Lacey enjoys it!We do pick up trial bags of different brands/flavors of dog food every so often just so Lacey can have a small variety but defiantly plan on continuing Nature’s Variety for the most part.
Rabies Vaccinosis
Back in December 2010 and January 2011 Lacey was vaccinated for Rabies so she could take a trip to California in May..Among reading daily emails from a Just Say No to Vaccines group on Yahoo that I belong to one of the members sent a email about Rabies Vaccinosis on the acute form of rabies symptoms and this one popped out to me…Increased Sexual Desire…Now,Lacey was spayed back in February 2010.Prior to that and her first heat she humped..After she finished her heat & got spayed her humping got less to maybe less than 1 time a month or longer…BUT when Lacey got her Rabies vaccinations in December 2010 then again in January 2010,one thing I have noticed and my dad has noticed is that Lacey is humping a lot more within the past month or so..so it’s a very recent thing we’ve noticed and so when I read that the chronic/new acute signs of rabies was increased sexual desire even in neutered/spayed dogs including humping I was very alarmed to know this..If I try to tell Dr Kaya this it’s pretty much certain that he will vehemently deny that her humping more were caused by Rabies…As most owners have said they’ve tried to tell their vets but they absolutely refuse to link these towards any vaccines. Now,that’s pretty sad…Regardless as in Hawaii from what I’ve researched there has never been a case of Rabies reported so although my mom tells me different unless I see it written/or documented I will never vaccinate my girl ever again!It breaks my heart to see her have these reactions because of a vaccine..
Maika leaves & Lacey Girl gets right back on track!
Maika leaves & Lacey Girl gets right back on track.Before we left Lacey said her to her friend,Lonnie,our neighbor’s dog,a Jack Russell?/Chihuahua,and Lacey was happy to see Lonnie.She didn’t even get dog aggressive!Which is how she usually is around other dogs..Very calm but excited to play with other dogs.She’s defiantly more obedient and listens a lot better..She was excited to do tricks for people food after Ma was done with dinner.Lacey gave the biggest and happiest two barks I’ve heard in a while! & she was so excited she did her tricks before Ma could even think of one!When you tell her “Lacey Girl,someone is home..Let’s go see who it is..”she’ll come running to the garage door waiting to be picked up & carried out to greet whoever came home.She goes poop & pee on her puppy pads and so we gave her lots & lots of praise for pooping on the puppy pad with a treat after..She’s getting better at it
Coming up for Lacey Girl is getting her health certificate so she can take the plane to California early in May.We will let Dr Kaya (if we must set up an appt)know that we don’t wish to vaccinate her & give her flea/heartworm meds BUT we do have a plan of prevention in place already using natural products.
Maika has left on Wednesday morning..
and we have given his owners Lacey’s Acana Wild Prairie since she doesn’t like it that much..Hopefully,they will see the difference in Maika and start looking into better dry food so his training will go better!I know they won’t have to put added food to get him to eat! But..Lacey did miss Maika for a short while after she went out riding today she came back in the house sniffing for Maika!Think she enjoyed having a playmate for a bit..
Ordered Lacey’s flea supplies from Only Natural Pet
On Monday we ordered Lacey’s flea supplies so we have it on hand prior to the trip to California.We ordered the Only Natural Pet All in One Flea Remedy & Only Natural Pet Herbal Defense Spray.
Lately I have not been using anything for flea including the Natural Chemistry Flea & Tick Spray.We still have it on hand just in case..However we don’t want Lacey’s body immunized to Revolution.It is said that fleas are becoming stronger every generation to the immunity of the manufactured companies ie Pfizer..Don’t know what site I got that from but I go through so many sites hunting down info it’s difficult to remember exactly what site you read it on..With any type of natural remedy I always hunt down the absolute best whether we can get it locally or order it online.When it comes to Lacey or any other puppy/dog we own in the future price is not an object…I look for those “products” that a lot of people have had great success /results with..
Nature’s Variety Instinct Beef & Lamb Review continues
Continuing to see excellent results with tear stains & it seems or so that she’s itching less but can’t seem for sure YET as I just noticed it about a day or so ago…She seems to be “protected” from fleas/mosquitoes with the ACV in her dog food.So far without any natural flea spray we have YET to conquer any fleas/mosquitoes on her YET.
Nature’s Variety continues to expand their Prairie line in May!
So..we just got word on Facebook that NV is going to expand their Prairie line because of the overwhelming requests for Puppy food specifically.Nature’s Variety Prairie Puppy & Nature’s Variety Prairie Large Breed Puppy!Stay tuned..More to follow as time goes on!
Maika does a turn around for the better!
This morning I took a different approach with Maika.I gave him a choice of his dog food or Lacey’s “old” dog food Acana Grasslands…and he went over to his bowl sniffed it then went over to the Acana Grasslands & decided to eat that instead!This morning I had put about 1/4 cup and tonight I put 1/2 cup of Acana Grasslands.Maika ate it all without a topper!Noramlly,his food..the amount given is 3/4 cups X 2 meals with chicken every meal!That’s equivalent to over 2 cups of dog food a day!Way too much for a dog who looks more like Jack Russell than King Charles Cavilier Spaniel…His owners have said he’s getting fat so I actually cut him back by at least half.I go according to weight guidelines for the breed(s) and which breed does that dog look more like if it’s more than one breed.Here Maika’s been getting only 3/4 cups a day and it seems he likes to nibble through the day.Given good food & discipline Maika overall his behavior is a lot better,does not beg for people food,eats with eagerness…not as hyped up and is a lot more submissive…
I don’t know what Maika’s owners feed him but from his poop and how much comes out I can imagine it’s a cheap dog food maybe Pedigree?? & I can imagine Maika would have high end energy even more so on a food like that..Lacey was the same way on Science Diet/IAMS but also had a little less energy on healthier dog food as well..
Observing Lacey & Maika
By observing Maika & Lacey & the different type of breeds(Lacey a Maltese/toy poodle & Maika a Jack Russell Terrier/King Charles Cavilier Spaniel) I can say for sure in the future I will be most defiantly sticking to the toy breed group and not the medium dog breeds.Maika is trained somewhat but he is very high strung,very destructive,needs LOTS of discipline,does not know his commands ie Sit,stay…proper behaviors like being submissive…to other dogs or people… nips/eats anything/everything in site basically.Don’t think I’ll ever own a terrier type of dog..Plus Lacey seems to get along with mostly toy breeds as long as they are/will be socialized at a very young age.
Lacey is still kind of scared of Maika so we try to keep the two apart when possible.You can tell she’s scared because when you pick her up & feel around her ribs you can sense she’s shaking..Had she been cold..she’d have shaken one of her paws.Poor thing also regurgitated this morning as she’s off her “program”…usually she gets people food for about 2-3 days then by 3-4 th day I “make” her eat her own food but since Maika’s been around she hasn’t eaten her own food for going on 4 days..so it’s only natural for her to regurgitate…running around on a very empty tummy…So we tied up Maika on his leash to the foot of a chair in the living room with lots of books on the chair….,so I could get Lacey girl to eat…and she was hungry…
