Lacey Princess is celebrating her 2nd anniversary of being home with the family

Today marks the second anniversary of the day we brought Lacey Princess home from Kailua. While she has certainly has had her challanges between then and now…today she’s doing wonderfully and healthwise is doing fantastic…..Most health issues have been limited since about last March..The rest were very minor including dental cleanings, rabies vaccines…no vaccines from January 2011,no Revolution from Feburary 2011..We are very grateful & thankful to have her,Lacey Princess, who was a scrawny little girl when she was 4 months and 4 days old, weighing in at about 4 pounds 3 oz.She’s a joy to have & an excellent watch dog.Looking forward to another pawesome year with her.She will get some treats from Hawaii Doggie Bakery to celebrate!

Oh,I should add Lacey has tried the Addiction Can Food(Buffalo flavor) and she loves it!This time she has shown a different reaction than with most can food.Yesterday, she stuck out her tongue and curled it before sticking it in her mouth. She did that twice!I gave her a small amount and she absolutely loved it!Gobbled it up without a thought!Best of all…it’s grain free…uses very very little veggies/fruits and the rest is all vitamins/minerals…Bowels in case anyone is wondering is overall good and firm.

On a sad note:Lace was at house for one of Ma’s real estate companies’ properties with us when we spotted a dog who did not have his collar..so we had put Lacey’s collar on….the dog approached and for a while was friendly but something got the dog mad so he started biting Lacey Girl….Pa broke the two up..Checked Lacey Girl over and she was fine…but if she had gotten hurt at all..I am pretty sure we could have filed a complaint with the humane society…Poor thing…was very frightened and held on to me tightly as I carried her…Her heart was racing…Took her on a walk later after we went home & while she’s usually very well behaved on walks(on leash of course~)this time,a dog she knows well…she has became very intimidated & unsure if she could trust this dog(chihuahua female who she sees often) and did get dog aggressive for a second but once I told her to be nice she calmed down right away….

Lacey gets new can food, chew toys & treats from Naturally Pet

Today Lacey got ~$45.00 worth of can food, chew toys and treats from Naturally Pet.Some of the can food is and will be new to her.The ones we got her today includes Addiction Herbed Duck Confit & Sweet Potatoes,Black Forest Rabbit & Blueberries,Safari Buffalo Meatloaf,Evangers Duck,Evangers Beef, including the usual Merricks Can Food…Rabbit is definatly a new protein to her and in treats(Nature’s Variety Instinct Rabbit Biscuits Treats) she took to it pretty good.Sort of smells like chicken….Also trying to get can food that has very little veggies/fruits in it as much as possible but we need a good selection so we buy what’s available at the time…Addiction Can Food is one of the most limited can food with almost no veggies/fruits to it per recipie…I like that because Lace is the type of dog who won’t really take to veggies unless it’s can food…Even then I am still trying to limit veggies/fruits when I can.She also got some new dog chews or as we call it “Chew toys” which is very very important in the summer…If you don’t have chew toys available she will chew carpet! It’s also the time she gets matted the most as well.So brushing daily is extremely important as well. She got two new chew toys called Himalayan Dog Chews..it has Yak & Cow Milk with salt and lime juice…She loves that….and she got a dog chew called Canine Cavier which is Buffalo.

Proteins Lacey has had:Chicken,Beef,Duck,Turkey,Lamb,Fish(Salmon,trout,Whitefish to name a couple),Bison,Buffalo,Yak(First time 6/16/2011),Rabbit(First time 6/16/2011),Pork
Hasn’t had yet:Brushtail,Kangaroo are the main ones she hasn’t had so far…
Lace has had Evangers Can Food before like a meal type of can food before but she didn’t like it so now we will try her on”just the meat” type of food from Evangers and see how she likes it..If she doesn’t care for it we won’t buy any food from Evangers again.

Next month to mark her 2 years with the family, she will be getting some treats from Hawaii Doggie Bakery & new grooming spray, shampoo and more gel for her teeth from the Pet Corner in Ward Center.
