We got Lace some samples from naturally pet but she didn’t eat it.like w/natural balance dry/can food & any dry/can food w/limited ingredients.i’d switch her over to 100% grain free if she ate it as well as her Halo’s!Her stool is excellent on TOTW even w/can food.Halo’s is low in grains…eats it close to a daily basis..medically it helps a lot…both Halo/s & TOTW has good variety ingredients which she’s faithful to…So far we tried Science Diet,IAMS,Beneful,Chicken Soup for the pet lover’s soul,prarie,instinct,stella & chewy,solid gold just a wee bit,wellness,canidae,halo’s(current),earthborn(current),totw(current),nature’s best(refused after once),natural balance(refuses can/dry),merricks(will eat sometimes,loves the can food),primal raw,thk ..when we are in pearl city i plan on trying a few different flavors from blue buffalo to see if she’ll eat it..

Neighbor’s dog would rather have Halo’s can food over Wellness
My neighbor’s dog would rather have Halo’s can food over Wellness.It will eat Wellness but if the dog has an option it would rather have Halo’s over Wellness can food.Even the Wellness dry food it doesn’t care for it a lot but will eat it.However,the dog would rather have raw over dry and maybe even Halo’s can.One thing it will not get is Lacey’s Halo’s dry food.That is reserved for Lacey only & only her mouth should be hungry for Halo’s!
Picking up more Halo’s Dry Food on Saturday & stopping all of the Wellness can food including treats
Tomorrow(Saturday) we will be going down to Kahala to get Lacey some more of the Halo’s dry food(Wholesome Chicken & -a new flavor for her Wild Salmon).We won’t be purchasing the Wellness can food anymore or the treats because it seems that she has lost interest in eating the Wellness products.She eats it she’s hungry enough but seems Merricks can food excites her more.So we will be sticking with Merrick can food & try a few other brands to see what else she likes.We might pick up some freeze dried raw for her.Right now her Stella & Chewy’s has beets inside it & if possible I want to stay away from foods with beet,beet pulp in it due to tear stains.I know Primal Pets Raw is beet free but I’d like to stick to freeze dried since we can’t predict when she will eat it.Once she starts eating it more on a daily basis willingly we may consider frozen raw food for her but till then we’re going to stick with freeze dried raw.
Lacey tries Wellness Super5Mix Small Breed
We just came back from dog food shopping for Lacey.We got her the Wellness Super5Mix Small Breed.While she does not seem to be thrilled about the change I have it mixed very little of the Wellness Super5Mix Small Breed with her Halo’s(majority of the food)and we’ll continue it for about a month to see how she does on it.If she’s still getting soft bowels we’ll donate it to a shelter and try perhaps a different choice of wellness.

Lacey gets a bag of Halos & other treats
Today we went to Whole Foods to pick up Lacey’s Halo’s Spot’s Stew Wholesome Chicken.We also picked up some can food.Originally I was going to pick up canned food from the Halo’s line(Salmon & Beef) but I only saw the salmon so we ended up picking up the Salmon (from Halo) & 1 Whitefish & Sweet Potato & 1 Turkey & Sweet Potato(Wellness).Wellness canned food is about 12.5 oz for $5.69 at Whole Foods.As a comparison,The Pet Spot sells Wellness Canned Food for almost half that price(~$2.30).I also picked up Earth’s Best Baby Food 2 containers of Chicken & Sweet Potato.From Safeway we got Lacey pig skin that is flavored on the inside with sweet potato. http://hartz.com/Hartz_Products/Dog_Products/Treats_and_Chews/3270099335_hartz_oinkies_pig_skin_twists_treats_for_dogs.aspx
It is actually better than the previous one I got her which is chicken flavored on the outside and bacon on the inside also from Hartz.

This one had artificial coloring but the pig skin doesn’t.Some people suggest giving your dog bullysticks but the history behind is disgusting and I don’t think I’d like Lacey eating something like that.Of course to her it’s nothing.After all of Lacey’s Beneful runs out if she likes the canned foods I’ve picked I am planning on discontinuing the Beneful since it does have by products and I am trying to get her on as natural as possible.

Lacey sweet potatoes update
This past weekend my parents went to the Neil Blaisdell Center and they had all different types of food to try out.So happened that Waggin’ Tail Bakery was there.Mom and Dad brought home a Waggin’ Tail Bakery Wheat Free Chicken Flavor Treat.Well,when we first gave these Waggin’ Bakery Wheat Free Chicken Treats she would sniff at it but wouldn’t touch it.The magic that got her to eat it was smearing the treat that’s shaped like a bone with Chicken & Sweet Potatoes.It was only then she ate it!Same thing with popcorn.she’ll only touch it if there’s Chicken & Sweet Potatoes.
It was only recently I’ve noticed since I’ve been giving her more sweet potatoes that her bowels are not on the soft side.Now,it’s more firm.Halo said that they are sending out the sample today so we’ll see how she reacts to it as it has sweet potatoes listed as a ingredient.Overall,Lacey is doing great!Her fur is getting more soft which means more matted fur to brush out but we can’t have it all right??!Lacey is also able to jump off the couch now.Something she wouldn’t do before!
