Puppy Eggnog,Bunny’s Peppermint Christmas Chews,and Thank Your Dog Casserole.Her drink is Coconut Water or something similar to that effect.
Puppy Dog Egg Nog
1 container plain yogurt(Stonyfield Oikos Plain Organic Greek Yogurt).In Hawaii you can find it at Times.
1 jar of baby food(Earth’s Best Sweet Potato & Chicken)
Note:**Earth’s Best Baby Food is organic & better than Nature’s Goodness and since I feed her organic dog food I try to stick to the same type of food-baby food,table food,drinks etc.Even I am going some organic along with Lacey.
1 large can of evaporated milk(Nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk or LowFat)
1 egg
1 1/2 cups of water
Blend all ingredients and serve in bowl.
Human Egg Nog:
Recipe from:http://oldrecipebook.com/eggnogrecipe.shtml
4 eggs

Link:http://www.benefits-of-honey.com/honey-vs-sugar.html

1 tsp vanilla
few dashes of nutmeg
Place all ingredients in a tightly covered container and shake, or place in a blender and mix. Pour into glasses, and garnish with nutmeg.
My mom already bought eggnog for her but for me it’s not close enough to Christmas to have egg nog and since i am making Lacey’s why not make my own from scratch?It might beat already made from the store.

A Rachal Ray recipe

http://www.rachaelraymag.com/recipes/rachael-ray-magazine-recipes/pet-friendly-dog-recipes/Thank-Your-Dog-Casserole

1 serving
For a small dog it should serve about 2 servings=1/2 cup at a time
* 1 T extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO)
* 1/4 lb ground turkey(will write in the brand after it’s bought)
* 1 small carrot, chopped or grated
* 1/4 cup green peas
* 1 cup unseasoned stuffing bread cubes
* 1/2 tablespoon butter
* 1/2 tablespoon flour
* 2 cups turkey or chicken stock
#

In a medium skillet, heat the EVOO, 1 turn of the pan, over medium heat. Add the turkey and cook until light brown, about 2 minutes. Add the chopped carrot and cook for 5 minutes. Add the peas and lower the heat to low. Stir in the bread cubes and remove from the heat.
#

In a small skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, then add 1 cup turkey stock and cook, whisking constantly, until the gravy thickens, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat.
#

Soften the stuffing with the remaining 1 cup stock. Place in a bowl for your pup and let cool for about 5 minutes. Top with the gravy and let cool for another minute before serving.

Lacey goes organic for the first time!

Yesterday several great things happened yesterday(Wednesday November 11 2009).Lacey finished her heat on Tuesday night.I could tell she was through because during the final days of her heat she was humping one of her stuffed animals,a dog,and she would mostly do that at night between 11pm-2am(HST) and occasionally during the day time but that final night on Tuesday the hours just passed by with normal,excellent behavior..no humping whatsoever.During the ending phase she was also a little more edgy..
My mom,Evelyn Akamine,came back from a trip last night and she brought back Lacey some organic doggy treats from Trader Joe’s Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Dog Treats.So happens that Lacey just loves it!Am thinking of putting in some organic food every now and then in her diet to see how she’d respond.As of last night after she ate some organic dog treats her bowels has been way better.It was not moist like when she has table food which is mostly usual for her but the color wasn’t real dark or real moist.

Lacey saves her appetite

All day on Thursday Lacey was saving her appetite for something good it turned out.Lacey didn’t want her own dog food,nor chicken nor hamburger for breakfast and lunch but she saved all of her appetite for corn beef.Only after she was given corn beef did she eat the rest of her meal.Leave it to a pup to have “gourmet” food with her meals!

Lacey’s almost back to normal!

Today Lacey was great!Her personality is almost fully back to normal.She wanted to play more,she even ate 1 whole bowl of her food mixed with mostly chicken + bits and pieces of hamburger!I was so happy that she is back to herself that I gave her a big hug!Even her barks are in “happy” tone.The last time she ate almost a whole bowl of food was early Tuesday(this past Tuesday)morning.

Lacey update

At 30 weeks old Lacey got her first heat.For the past few days we were trying to figure out what was wrong with her as she didn’t eat a lot of her food.In fact,she ate less than what she normally eats <1/8 cup.She would snack here and there but wouldn't eat as much.Also noticed her personality was there but somewhat subdued.About a week ago,we noticed that she was licking her vulva a lot so I posted questions on Dogster asking about this and we thought it was a UTI,Yeast Infection,Dirt or possibly getting into heat.We noticed her vulva was black around the area. We thought it was blood so after we wiped her vulva we took hydrogen peroxide with a qtip to see if it was blood but it wasn't.Dirt?We gave her a bath and it's cleaner now but when we looked closer at the vulva we noticed some swelling and immediatly after that we knew she was in heat.Now we know why she's been the way she has been the past few days..Next month we will ask Dr Kaya at VCA Animal Hospital about her being spayed.By then she would have just turned 8 months old.We may have to get a pack of diapers to put on her duing this time so she doesn't spot around the house.We'd hate to confine her again…..

Aside from Lacey starting her heat….she has graduated in 3 1/2 months from putting tape all around her mat for potty,to about an inch of tape on each corner of her mat,to only 2 corners needing tape,to no tape at all as of Saturday night!

Also reintroducing Lacey to the NurtoMax Puppy Biscuits and she is getting used to the Milkbone..Today(saturday) she ate 2 half biscuits =1 biscuit of milkbone.I put it inside her KONG and she is obviously eating it more now..

Tricks wise…She's learning how to lay down,not running outside,sit,sit & stay meaning of don't move,standing on her hind legs,sort of identifying the word vienna sausage and the can of vienna sausage,vaccum…

Eating wise:The past two days since Thursday she wouldn't eat a lot…I tried giving her hamburger today(Saturday)but she just ate the hamburger..but when I gave her some of the mcdonald chicken that is when she ate both-her food +pieces of chicken.She was waiting for the chicken.This dog will do anything for chicken even if it means to go hungry!

Lacey’s favorite foods

Eggs
Vienna Sausage(She’ll go crazy even at the sight of the can or the word vienna sausage)
Kentucky Fried Chicken esp the skin
Pizza Hut Pizza
Oatmeal
Anything with chicken..

Milkbone gets the Lacey Maltipoo Approval!

Tonight Lacey has given the milkbone her maltipoo approval!As a result of not liking the greenies we got the milkbones.If you read the earlier blog it said that Lacey would pick up the bone(greenies) and drop it somewhere else in the house…Though something told me when we went to go get the greenies to take a glance at the milkbones as if something were to tell me”Are you sure you are getting the right for her?”and to be honest I was somewhat uncertain of Lacey’s reaction…..When we went to the store to get the milkbone my dad wanted to get :http://pet.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pPETS-3763999t400.jpg
but I told my dad we should get this one:http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/images/prod/203135702_lg.gif
because the first link basically had beef which Lacey does eat but I knew she’d eat it more if it had the foods or flavors she liked such as chicken,beef,turkey,sausage…..We brought it home and at first my dad thought she wouldn’t like it because she didn’t “jump”at the treat.I gave it to her and she “played” with it for a while to get used to it but never the reaction like to the greenies ie YUCK.I’m not going to bother with this.Eventually she bit into it and ate.To this day her favorite dog treat is the NO GRAINERS by HBH Pet Products.

Lacey”Greenies are junk!”

My aunty told me that dogs enjoy the greenie treat.I knew about the risks of feeding a greenie and all..So we went and picked up a bag of greenies and I tried to give Lacey one but she wouldn’t touch it.Could be several different reasons.1)There isn’t enough chicken flavor 2)Looks like a toothbrush and that doesn’t look like a treat.Then I googled it and found that Milkbone is more in favor than greenies for most dogs.I also checked the ingrediants in what order it’s listed for the flavor and found that chicken is farther among the list for a greenie vs a milkbone.Think Lacey may respond better to milkbone…
As for maltipoo approval for greenies:I think the title explains her reaction pretty well.”Give me something with more flavor!”

Lacey’s Giardia Medication & her reaction to it

Lacey is on 250 mg of Metronidazole and needs to take a half tablet once a day for 6 days.We tried giving it to her orally but she wouldn’t take it.She’d sniff and turn away.We tried taking a piece of chicken and cutting it and stuffing her medicine in the chicken but she ate the chicken and spit out the pill.So we had two more chances.That was to grind up her medicine and put it in chicken noodle soup from the can not heated and see if she’d drink her soup.She did drink a few sips but after a couple licks she didn’t want anymore so we went to the last resort which was take the chicken noodle soup base mixed with her grinded pill and put it in a syringe to squirt it into her mouth.Well,she didn’t like it one bit.After she was trying to get the taste of the medicine out of her mouth.So far she’s got no side effects from it.Her appetite is good.We’ll see and I will be watching out for the side effects if any.Otherwise we will be sure to call Dr Kaya.Don’t want anything to hurt her body.
