Waggin’ Train Western Grill

So far,all of the Waggin’ Train treats get Lacey,39 weeks old, very excited to eat them.Today we got her Waggin’ Train Western Grill which we also plan to get her on her birthday(1 year old-March 13 2009)to see how she’d like it.I figured she’d go crazy for these treats.Sure enough,we brought it home and showed her the package.Same experience like the other Waggin’Train treats she sniffed it.When I dropped the bag on the ground she picked it up in her mouth and started to drag it around the house & trying to open it as well.Gave her one of the treats(a Chicken Drumstick)and she played with it then eventually ate it.I’ve never seen her get so excited for any other brand of treats ie Wellness,No Grainers,Cloud Star brands…Waggin’ Train is something else..

A trip to Natrually Pet!

On a trip to Natrually Pet recently we bought enough treats to value about $40 which should last a while.I try to look for the treats that’s at a good price but has a lot of treats since she goes through them fairly quickly. The more their is for the amount and price the more likely we pick it up(and of course as long as she eats it).

We picked up Sojo(Good Dog)Chicken Pot Pie Sojo(Good Dog) Apple Dumpling,Merricks Canned Food, and No Grainers.I’ve also wrote out a list of brands of dog food that Natrually Pet carries.Since I found out that Halo’s actually has less chicken than anticipated I am thinking of trying to switch to something else.At the same time, she hasn’t been eating much. Was told that Table Food could be the culprit. At first I ruled that out but now I will admit it could be but is it?I can’t say for sure because even though I have cut back drastically on the amount of table food I feed her she still doesn’t eat much but we’ll see if that’s really the culprit or she just doesn’t need to eat as much as before compared to when she was still growing. We’re slowly finishing up the Beneful as we have got one containor left and that will be the end of Beneful’s by products.

Sojo:
I have looked into the dry food as well including The Honest Kitchen. The food does look good and easy but honestly placing Lacey on Raw Food I don’t think that would work for her. However I may consider some parts of the Raw Food Diet to place her on such as veggies etc maybe like twice a week but to do completely raw I don’t think I’d be open to that unless it’s medically necessary.

No grainers are back!

Lacey gets so excited whenever I give her these treats.Although she hasn’t had it in a while she still remembers the package and the taste. She will still go crazy for it and no matter how long it’s been since her last bite of No Grainers she still remembers it and always eats it!Lacey has never turned down a NO GRAINER Treat not even once!!!We did find the No Grainers at Natrually Pet for $7 but the last time we went to Kalihi Pet it could be that they were out of it and now No Grainers are more in demand.Could it be?Did Lacey tell another dog about No Grainers and word got out??As delicious as it looks she could’ve barked about it when other pups were barking!

Finding Halo’s Spot’s Stew Wholesome Chicken in Hawaii

Finding a store that carries Halo’s products in Hawaii especially in town can be pretty frustrating when it comes down to looking for the item itself. We went to several places and called several places including following the names of the stores on Halo’s Store Locator. We tried Natrually Pet but they only have for cats not dogs.We tried Kalihi Pet but they only had the cheaper end of the Holistic/organic dry food such as Natrual Choice by Nutro. They also stopped carrying Lacey’s No Grainers even though they do have the chocolate flavored treats which Lacey can’t have carob because it makes her poop soft. That’s the reason for stopping her Cookie Treats with Carob. If you look further in the blogs I believe it was called Cookie Yumms! We tried The Pet Spot but they only carry the Wellness brands and she can’t have the dry food because of soft bowels though she can have the canned food and treats. We tried calling The Vitamine Shop that’s listed on Halo’s store locator but they don’t sell it so our only and last hope was the Whole Food Store in Kaimuki. They have it!Otherwise if they didn’t we’d defiantly have to look into other options for her.And all the other places in Hawaii are out of our way like down in Kapolei which is too far for us to drive just to get Halo’s!Halo’s should have more distributors in town!

Lacey gets matted

So within the past week I noticed Lacey was getting matted more. Her fur is getting finer and I think that is part of the problem..To see what was intially the issue please see the following link:http://www.dogster.com/forums/Grooming/thread/652275
We got the Gold Metal Pets(Cardinal Pets) from Kalihi Pet Store.I didn’t know that it was one of the recommended brands since there are so many companies that makes grooming supplies..
We also got her Cloud Star treats Bacon & cheese Madness..For some reason Kalihi Pets doesn’t have her No Grainers anymore and I knew not to buy the bigger treats because she doesn’t like it so I looked for smaller treats and saw Cloud Star which was sort of advertised to me through the dogster thread.Lacey loves it!She really likes Bacon so I knew this was something she’ll like too.

Back to Nutro Max Puppy Biscuits for Lacey

Lacey is almost done with her No Grainers and so I am going to get her the MAX Nutro Puppy Biscuits one of the first treats she is eaten since she was about 4 months old. When she does her business on the mat I usually give her to No Grainers or Nutro Max.

Lacey doesn’t get rawhides & treats are from the food stores

Lacey doesn’t get any rawhides because she has a difficult time chewing them. The only way we could get her to eat a rawhide is by “tearing”it apart with a screwdriver then soaking it in water. After that it’s easier for her to chew. There are only 2 treats that Lacey has which is from the pet store.I try to get her the treats that are easy to eat and not difficult such as a rawhide. I’ve found that a lot of treats at pet stores are rawhides so a lot of her treats are from the regular market made for dogs. The only ones that are from the Pet Store is the Nutro Max Puppy Biscuits(suitable for small dogs and puppies)and the No Grainers with Chicken.

Lacey’s new treats

Today Lacey got some new treats.Of course,I made sure that it had the flavor chicken.Last time we got her the MAX Puppy Drumsticks:

which she enjoys.
Cookie Yumms:
She can’t have too much of the cookies because her bowels get too soft so she gets it less often than the rest of her snacks which also include the KONG chicken liver:

Her new treat is also chicken flavored mixed with potato flour, ground peas and fish oil. It’s by HBH Pet Products
